Hair Transplant Procedures: The Primary Techniques
There are two main methods for surgical hair restoration: Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Both are designed to move healthy hair follicles from a donor area (commonly the back of your head) to areas experiencing thinning or baldness. The main difference between the procedures lies in how the hair follicles are harvested.- FUT involves removing a strip of scalp to harvest hair follicles, which your surgeon then transplants to the recipient area.
- FUE uses tiny punches to individually extract hair follicles, leaving smaller, less noticeable marks.
